Director of Curriculum

The Director of Curriculum is Gerard Evans. He was educated at Uppingham and Balliol College, Oxford, where he read Modern Languages.  After graduating in 1980 he spent seven years as an insurance broker in the City of London before taking up a post as a schoolmaster at Cheltenham College. He came to Eton in 1993. He was Head of Modern Languages (1997 - 2007) and Universities Officer (2007 - 2009).

The role of the Director of Curriculum is to oversee the very broad educational programme that the school offers its boys. The curriculum is seen to encompass not only the academic but also those many other activities, particularly in the areas of sport, music and drama, which are integral to boys' lives.
