The Tennis Campaign
Begun by OEs and Parents in 2007, the Tennis Campaign has seen the improvement of Eton’s Tennis Centre, which is one of the largest school centres in the country and plays host to top school tournaments including hosting the Senior Independent Schools’ Tennis League. In total players from over 100 schools compete at Eton each year.
The first stages of the project involved the renovation of 15 match courts to a top quality tournament standard (5 acrylic and 10 synthetic clay) as well as securing Robin Drysdale as Eton's inaugural Director of Tennis, a post which has proved invaluable in terms of improvement of focus on Tennis as a major sport at Eton.
With a restructured fixtures list, an increased focus on singles, as well as improved off-season coaching programmes Eton Tennis has developed great strength and depth.
The School are now looking to complete the final five courts and are exploring the possiblility of floodlighting to enable evening play during winter months.
To date over £1 million has been raised towards the Tennis Campaign from the generous support of a number of OEs, parents and corporates. We remain extremely keen to maintain the momentum of the project, and welcome additional support.
