We are delighted to announce that Dame Helena Morrissey was appointed as a Fellow at the Provost & Fellows’ meeting last Saturday, 3 February 2018.

Helena is Head of Personal Investing at Legal and General Investment Management (the global fund manager). She was previously CEO and subsequently Non-Exec Chair of Newton Investment Management. She is best known for her work on diversity. She founded the 30% Club in 2010 to encourage chairmen of major UK companies to aim for 30% women on their boards by 2015. She also led Newton’s sponsorship of the women’s Boat Race and achieved gender equality with the men’s race in 2015. She chairs the Diversity Project and was appointed a Dame in the Queen’s 2017 Birthday Honours List for services to diversity in financial services.

Her other current appointments include being a member of the Financial Trade and Investment Services Board (2015), Diversity adviser to the Civil Service (2015), Commissioner, IPPR Commission on Economic Justice (2016), Fellow of the London Business School, CFA Society and Chartered Institute of Management Accountants.

Helena is Financial Times 2017 ‘Person of the Year’ (Boldness in Business Awards) and was named one of Fortune magazine’s ‘World’s 50 Greatest Leaders’. Her book ‘A Good Time to be a Girl – don’t lean in, change the system’ has just been published.

Helena is a mother of nine, six girls and three boys. She is a former parent. We are pleased to welcome Helena back to Eton in her new role.
