In response to current government advice concerning the Covid-19 outbreak, the reading room for researchers using the College Archives and College Library is closed until further notice. We apologise for the inconvenience and hope to be open to readers again soon. Please check our website for the latest information.

Our remote enquiry service is still running, though limited due to our staff working from home. Please continue to contact with enquiries, and we will help as fully as we can.

The College Archives and College Library share a readers’ room, which is open Monday to Friday (excluding bank holidays and between Christmas and New Year). Materials from the College Archives may be consulted 9.30-1.00 and 2.00-4.45, and materials from College Library 9.30-1.00 and 2.00-5.00. Please contact the Collections Administrator to make an appointment.
Research visits to study materials from Fine and Decorative Art, the Photographic Archive, the Museum of Antiquities, the Museum of Eton Life or the Natural History Museum may also be arranged by appointment through the Collections Administrator.

Reader registration

New readers must fill out a registration form. This is valid for one year, after which time registration must be renewed.
New readers (and readers renewing their registration) must provide both photographic proof of identity and proof of permanent address with two of the following documents (originals, not copies, faxes or printouts): 
o    Passport
o    Driving licence 
o    Bank or credit card
o    National ID card 
o    Utility bill *
o    Bank/building society statement *
o    Credit card statement *
o    National ID card with address 
o    Driving license with address 
o    Council tax bill/council rent book
* no older than four months

Letters of introduction

Undergraduate and postgraduate students are asked to supply a letter of introduction from a tutor or advisor, in addition to the documents above.
