Eton’s under 15s Football squad has been praised for its attitude towards other players and match officials on the pitch.

The team was Highly Commended by the Independent Schools Football Association (ISFA) for outstanding commitment to fair play and respect towards opponents and match officials during the 2014/15 season.

Bill Norton, Head of Games at Eton College said: “We were delighted to see our football team recognised in this way. “As a school our role isn’t just to teach pupils about how to play a particular sport. It is equally important to instil skills like team-work and commitment, as well as respect for fellow players and match officials.

“Matches played at school level can be as passionate and closely fought as any professional game but we believe it is important to also show respect for others and maintain the values of fair play. An award such as this is just as important as coming back with a trophy.”
