During the holidays, the Debating Society had a very productive time at the Durham University Schools Debating Tournament – a major event in the debating calendar, lasting a full weekend and featuring 116 pairings from schools across the country:

Greg Weaving KS and Coen Armstrong KS won the competition. This concludes a superb run of form from both boys, winning competitions up and down the country, confirming their status as the top pair in British schools’ debating. (They are both due to attend Princeton, so we will see how this partnership continues at university level.) Remarkably, this is the third year in a row that Greg Weaving has won this competition, each time with a different partner (with Ed Bracey in D Block and Arthur James in C Block).

Gustav Conradie KS and Fraser McConachie KS were joint second in the individual speaker rankings.

In addition to the boys, great credit goes to their coach, Daniel Berman.
