Broadcasting Society

For its inaugural event, the Broadcasting Society hosted comedy producer (and former Head of BBC Comedy) Jon Plowman OBE. Mr Plowman couldn't have been a better choice to open the society, having been behind some of the greatest TV shows of the last thirty years. He spoke with great humour about the process of getting a comedy made, what his job as a producer entails, and what it is like working with some of the biggest names in television. In particular, he showed clips from his shows, and then explained why and how the jokes worked, including a Fry and Laurie sketch which was filmed in Eton. There was an excellent turnout, with almost 100 boys coming to hear his talk in the Marten Library.
