F Block tour the College Collections

The Collections team welcomed F Blockers from all 25 houses last Sunday, to introduce them to the work of Collections in exploring and preserving the rich history at Eton College. As an annual event, it was not only an opportunity for boys to experience the sheer scale and richness of Eton’s collections, but also a chance to learn more about the very Etonians who were in their shoes a few hundred years ago, and the legacy that they have left behind.

Accompanied by their respective House Masters, the boys received an introduction from the Vice-Provost, followed by a comprehensive tour around various departments of Collections: the Archives, College Library, Photographic Archive, Fine & Decorative Art, Silver, Museum of Eton Life and Eton’s Natural History Museum. The boys had a unique opportunity to come up close to some of the most iconic items at Eton College, including the Gutenberg Bible, and many other artefacts which would otherwise be behind glass displays in museums.

Finally, I would like to thank the Collections team, on behalf of the boys, for their tireless efforts into making this event possible every year.

Boy Keeper of Collections,
