Public Schools Fencing Championships

News from the Public Schools Fencing Championships in Nottingham last week, where Eton won the Hilary Hammond trophy, awarded to the best school with fewer than 25 entries, for the third year running.
We also picked up the Jack Wheeler Cup, which goes to the third best boys’ school, and we were runners-up for yet another cup, so it has to rank as the most successful performance from Eton for many years.
Congratulations in particular to Harry Boteler, who narrowly missed out on winning the Junior Sabre trophy, and came second in what was a very competitive field.  More congratulations to Nicky de Juniac and Richard Cripps, who both made the top eight in Senior Epee, but also to all twelve boys who took part.  It was a real team effort.
