Eton pair win Pairs' Regatta

Louloudis KS and Jopling (NJR) won GB Rowing's flagship trial, The Pairs' Regatta on Dorney Lake this Tuesday.

They dominated early races to emerge as clear favourites for the A final. In the end the winning margin was huge (9.4 seconds - a little over 3 lengths). Our second pair (Nainby-Luxmoore mi CMJ and Monfared MAG) came fifth in the same A final in a typically hard fought race that saw them put every ounce of strength they had behind their oars. Balkwill (GRP) raced in his first GB assessment with a boy from Monmouth School as a scratch pair, doing very well to win the D final with some style.

To put this in perspective, no other school or club has had two boats in the A final at this regatta - Eton did this last in 2005, placing third and fifth.

These are really remarkable results against the best competition that GB rowing can put up.

The picture below show Jopling and Louloudis' winning margin.
