Modern Languages Society: Tom Parry OE on “Who Would Teach Modern Languages?”

Mr Parry addressed the Modern Languages Society posing the questions of who would want to teach modern languages and why would they want to do it. Mr Parry is currently working for the “Teach First” charity which aims to give children from underprivileged backgrounds the opportunity to live a happy and meaningful life through giving them a good quality education.

Although at times the work can be difficult, Mr Parry and his two colleagues said that they found watching their students develop incredibly rewarding and satisfying. Whilst most definitely a very worthwhile cause, they also said that “Teach First” gave them a stepping stone between university and mainstream professions which they believe is hugely beneficial.

After the talk several excellent questions were asked from the floor, a tribute to the stimulating talk given by Mr Parry.
