Banks and Geographical Societies:
Mr Robert Swan OBE on walking to both the North and South Poles

The Banks and Geographical societies hosted Robert Swan OBE, the first person to walk unaided to both the North and South poles. Mr Swan spoke of both his life story and his journeys to the poles and also about his more recent work in campaigning for the preservation of Antarctica and for renewable energy. He has also been heavily involved in persuading governments to take action on climate change, and was invited by John Major to the 1992 Rio de Janeiro Earth Summit.  He was an excellent speaker, who was very listenable and the meeting was well attended and enjoyed by boys of all blocks.
