1st XI Hockey:
Windsor Boys’ 1 Eton 0

Windsor were worthy of their first win over Eton at 1st team level. Fielding their strongest side to date, and with good wins under their belt already this season, their will to win was palpable. Windsor’s two central midfield players barely missed a ball all day and their whole team competed strongly for any loose ball. Eton, by contrast, were sluggish in the opening stages, conceded a series of short corners, and lacked the basic control that they had shown against Lord Wandsworth’s.

The only goal came after 45 minutes - a deliberate deflection from outside Furse’s left post. Play was more evenly matched in the second half. Eton’s pass completion rate improved, H.Lighton made increasing advances down the right flank and the ball was finally transferred laterally, albeit at a rather leisurely pace. Eton worked several presentable chances, but so did Windsor, who deserved their victory, based upon their first half performance.
