GBR’s U16Bs continue 6 match winning streak in style

Eton U16 Bs: 5
Langley U16 Bs: 0

The match was tight at first, both teams sharing possession equally, and both  teams were solid at the back. Will Offer provided all Eton’s impetus down the right, and created a few chances.  The first goal came from a lovely bit of play by Eton, Gus Ross Skinner slipping through Tom Trower who in turn played Ollie Myers through who calmly slotted past the keeper into the bottom corner. Gus Ross Skinner once again created another difficult chance for Guy Linzee Gordon. Ross Skinner played the ball delicately over the Langley defence and Linzee Gordon headed just wide.

After the break neither team grabbed hold of the game, but Eton again began to assert their dominance with a wonderful solo goal by Will Offer.  He danced past two players and netted through the keepers legs.

Moments later, the lone Langley striker burst into the box only to be brilliantly denied by Litchfield, who always looked solid.  Trower had an opportunity to put Eton three up but his volley just dipped over the bar. He atoned for this miss a couple of minutes later however, when he turned from twenty five yards and brilliantly chipped the keeper.

The next event was a quick succession of penalties, Macleod winning Eton one and captain Charlie Hierons, dutifully stepped up and neatly slotted the other into the right hand corner. He played well all game, using his strength and speed to ensure Eton kept a clean sheet in defence. Langley then won a penalty which blazed wide of Litchfield’s post.

It was a comfortable win for the U16B’s ensuring that they maintained their unbeaten and victorious string of six straight wins. Up next is a match against an Eton Sport XI that looks set to be a tougher match altogether.
