Debating Society

Four Etonian debaters travelled to the Victoria and Albert Museum on Thursday 10th October for what was possibly their most fearsome debate yet. Toby Tricks and Harry Elliott were to represent Eton in Farrer & Co's annual Laurence Stracey Memorial Debate, arguing for a ban on nepotistic employment practices. Their opponents were two barristers of Old Square Chambers, one of whom had in past years made the final of the World University Debating Championships. Fighting against the odds, the boys prevailed to win the floor vote, aided in part by Toby's analysis of the success of nepotistic leadership in North Korea and Harry's lively sense of humour.
