Over the Easter holidays, a group of C Block boys took part in an enriching cultural tutor trip to Florence and Rome. Based at Casa Guidi, the historic Florentine home of poets Robert Browning and Elizabeth Barrett Browning, the boys immersed themselves in the artistic, historical, and culinary highlights of the city that gave birth to the Italian Renaissance.
In Florence, the itinerary included visits to iconic sites such as the Pitti Palace and Boboli Gardens, the Basilica di Santa Croce, the Accademia, and the Uffizi Gallery.
Highlights also included a climb up Brunelleschi’s Dome at sunset and a guided tour through the secret passages of the Palazzo Vecchio.
The boys also made a day trip to Rome, visiting the Caravaggio 2025 exhibition at the Palazzo Barberini, walking the floor of the Colosseum, exploring the Roman Forum, and taking in landmarks such as the Pantheon and Trevi Fountain.
The boys also took part in more hands-on experiences: learning to make fresh pasta, playing a round of golf at the Ugolino Golf Course, and attending a Roberto Cacciapaglia concert in the hills of Fiesole.
A particular highlight was attending a Serie A football match between Fiorentina and Atalanta, soaking up the electric atmosphere at the Stadio Artemio Franchi and experiencing, first-hand, just how passionate Italian fans can be.
It was a week of rich cultural discovery, excellent food, and unforgettable experiences – a truly memorable Italian adventure and a taste of La Dolce Vita.
