A new block fixture against The Oratory School, Reading provided a good start to the season. An injury-hit 1st XV lost 19-26 to a strong Oratory side, fighting back with two late tries but unable to grab one more before the final whistle, while the Junior Colts A put in a good performance and lost by a single try too. The Colts A earned a good 24-19 victory while the U14A got off to a flying start to their time at Eton winning by seven tries. In the games with The Oratory we won 10 and lost 4. The 2nd XV lost to Gresham’s 1st XV, to whom go many thanks for travelling so far to enable the match to happen. The Colts B lost by two points in a thriller against Tonbridge B, a reversal of last year’s one-point victory at Junior Colts; they have a chance for revenge later in the season. Football Eton have the upper hand over arch-rival

Eton can be delighted with a very healthy playing record this year against Charterhouse. After 19 matches on Saturday the final standings were Played 19, Won 13, Drew 3, Lost 3. The Association gained a respectable 2-2 draw in convincing fashion at one of the toughest places to go on the circuit. The other ‘A’ teams all won, the 16As 4-1, 15As 3-2 and 14As 6-0. The pick of the other results include the 5th XI and U16Cs, who both won 7-1, and the U14Fs who started their Eton football career with an excellent 8-0 win.
