Eton College wins Independent School Grounds Team of the Year at the Grounds Management Association (GMA) Industry Awards 2025.
This is the team’s second consecutive year winning the prize, which recognises excellence in grounds management. The ceremony was held on 13 March at Liverpool Football Club, Anfield Stadium.
Eton’s Grounds Manager, Lee Marshallsay, leads the team who are responsible for maintaining 38 sports pitches and 1,500 acres. He described winning as “a real honour”.
“We always want to do better because the team are all proud of what they do,” Lee said. “They want to do a good job every single day for the benefit of the boys and the community.”
The GMA Industry Awards and their annual #GroundsWeek campaign seek to reward the efforts of the unsung heroes who maintain top-quality surfaces and high-level sporting facilities.
Geoff Webb, CEO of the Grounds Management Association, praised the School’s professionals, saying: “Eton College grounds staff are a fantastic example of the talent we have in this sector.
“The dedication and skill of people like Lee and the grounds team at Eton College makes sport possible at all levels… their contribution to the industry is invaluable.”
After their well-deserved win, Lee says the grounds team are keeping their focus on “maintaining standards and continuing to improve.
“Moments like this make all the effort worthwhile.”
