Skiing Expedtion to Jasper

Nine boys went to Jasper, Canada for some intensive skiing instruction during the holidays. 5 were registered for the CSIA Level 1 Ski Instructor course which they all passed. This is an internationally recognised, professional ski instructor qualifiation which focuses on technique, pedagogy, professionalism, and guest service. Eton is currently the only school in the UK which offers access to this programme which many people do during their gap years. For further details about the course see: http://www.snowpro.com/csia/e/ which is run through the Canadian Rockies Academy (http://canadianrockiesacademy.com/)

The remaining 4 boys received 12 days of instruction which included a wide range of terrain including a snow park, but the focus was on improving technique with a view to the CSIA Level 1 course next year.

The weather was very kind to us and the setting was spectacular. Other activities included dog sledding, a visit to Maligne ice canyon, curling, bowling, a lecture on Canadian National parks and avalanches, the cinema and eating in some local restaurants.
