Printmaking

Printmaking at the Drawing Schools aims to encourage investigation and experimentation in all the various techniques of printmaking. Facilities in the department allow for the methods of ‘relief printing’ (linocut and woodcut), ‘intaglio printing’ (etching, dry point, and collagraph), and ‘mono-printing’.

Boys are initially introduced to each method through a series of projects which flow from observational drawing and digital photography, through to the experimentation in a particular printmaking technique.

The use of digital photography and computer manipulation are widely-used tools in the printmaking department which add to the creative process of developing ideas and creating images.
