Squash

The School has 12 squash courts which are available for the use of boys, Masters and residents.

The game is very popular at Eton and the courts are in almost constant use, both by recreational and team players.

In addition to a number of Masters, we have the regular services of two professional outside coaches, who offer one-to-one and group coaching.

We introduce beginners to the game, lending them a racket while they decide whether they want to continue with the game and buy their own racket.

There are internal competitions for Senior, Under-16, and Under-14 singles, for Master-&-Boy doubles (eye-protectors are now mandatory for doubles and likely to become so for singles), and for House teams.

We have a large number of Thursday fixtures in both winter halves and the intention is that there should be one match per week for each of our four teams, with more for the 1st V. We are as competitive as any school in the South East circuit and Eton has won the Schools Invitation Tournament at Roehampton on four occasions since its inauguration in 1998, and frequently progresses through to the latter stages of the National Schools Competition.

As well as playing a wide range of school opposition, we host men’s sides such as the Jesters, the Teddy Bears, the Escorts, and the Veterans of Great Britain. The senior squad has undertaken tours to the USA and to South Africa in recent years.
