Many congratulations to JCAJ (Walpole House) and WING (The Timbralls) on winning the Senior and Junior Summer House Scramble 2026 competitions respectively…silverware to be engraved and awarded imminently…and also to our runners-up, CDNP (Evans’s) and HWTA (Godolphin House).

I couldn’t think of a better way to kick off the Summer season – a terrific afternoon of House golf with a solid mix of seasoned players and boys who are slightly newer to the game. The scramble format did exactly what it should: bold shots, strong teamwork, and a healthy amount of House spirit.

The Seniors competition couldn’t have been closer. JCAJ and CDNP both came in with excellent scores of 29, five under par, so the result had to be settled on countback. CDNP played some wonderfully steady golf and looked very hard to catch for much of the round, but JCAJ finished with a real flourish: birdie at the 7th, birdie at the 8th, and then an eagle on the par-five 9th.

That final run of 3, 2, 3 was enough to sneak it on countback. A slightly brutal way for CDNP to lose out after such a good round, but a brilliant contest between the two Houses. AGDF (The Hopgarden) and IRG (Hawtrey House) were not far behind either, both shooting 31, which shows how strong the Senior scoring was across the board.

The Junior tournament was won by WING, who played beautifully for their 31, three under par. They were consistent throughout and also saved their best for 9th, signing off with an eagle. HWTA pushed them closest with a very strong 33, and JNO (Villiers House) were just behind on 34, so there was plenty of good scoring in the Junior competition too.

Across both competitions, there was some top-notch golf on show, and it was great to see so many boys out representing their Houses, encouraging one another, and enjoying themselves on a sunny, Sunday afternoon.

Thank you once again to all the boys who played, their caddies, and to the Captains of Games who helped rally the troops!
