The Hispanic Society was delighted to host Mr Joan Laporta, ex-president of FC Barcelona. During his tenure as president, Mr Laporta oversaw a revival in the club’s fortunes, and one of the most successful periods in the club’s history. His decisions to promote Pep Guardiola (now widely regarded as the best manager in the world) and to actively pay UNICEF for the right to have their logo on Barcelona’s shirts were just two of many topics he addressed. The meeting was held in Upper School and was well-attended, with over one hundred boys coming, and their interest in Mr Laporta was plain to see when it came to the question and answer session. The Hispanic Society would like to thank Mr. Laporta for taking time out of his busy schedule to fly over from Spain in order to speak to us.
