We had the pleasure of hosting Dr Ian Maconochie, a lead consultant in paediatric emergency medicine at St. Mary's Hospital, London. He gave an inspiring insight into emergency medicine, providing us with numerous statistics, including some shocking facts. He explained why we have specific paediatric departments, and taught us about the history of the major trauma unit, including Fleming's famous work. It was a fantastic talk to end the half. Our thanks go to Dr Maconochie and to all of this half's speakers.
