Professor Mike Hulme delivered a fascinating lecture on the subject of his book: 'Why we disagree about Climate Change.' He laid out his argument that climate change is viewed by all individuals and interested parties according to their personal values and beliefs. He suggested six common points of view of why climate change has arisen, and a potential solution for each. Professor Hulme argued that because the variety of opinion on climate change is so vast, it is nearly impossible to get all interested parties to agree on a single solution. He then proposed his polycentric answer to this global phenomenon: suggesting that individual bodies and charities should go about instigating pragmatic programs to help resolve climate change issues as they see fit. The talk was both interesting and engaging and our thanks go out to Professor Hulme for taking the time to share his ideas with us.
