Medical Society: Applying to Medical School
On Wednesday 12 September the first meeting of the Medical Society this year was held. We were spoilt to have two great speakers from Medic Journey International, a company that specializes in preparing students for their medical school applications. Both Dr Ricardo Tavares and Dr Christopher Nordstrom spoke to us on everything from how to choose a medical school to explaining the UKCAT and BMAT exams. The talk was extremely informative and they gave those applying this year and those in C block some very handy tips and personal bits of advice on every aspect of the admissions process.
Although there were not as many boys from lower blocks present (due to the nature of the talk) we had girls and boys from a range of schools in the local area, resulting in a large audience of around a hundred people.
Judging by the questions asked by the audience, everyone seemed to have gained a lot from attending the talk. It was a great starting point for the half and with 6 more meetings planned this term, it looks set to be a great half for the Medical Society.
