On Tuesday 28th January, the Broadcasting Society was delighted to welcome Sir Peter Bazalgette. Having had an illustrious career in television, he spoke of the challenges of running Endemol, and his role in bringing pioneering shows such as Big Brother and Deal or No Deal to the screen. Sir Peter’s talk ranged from intellectual property disputes, to anecdotes about the struggles of getting viewers on side during the advent of reality TV. He also spoke about his current role as Chairman of the Arts Council UK, and the struggle for funding the arts, especially opera. His talk was very well received by the enthusiastic audience, and Sir Peter was particularly accommodating and honest when answering questions about his life in the media.
