Caledonian Society

Sunday night saw the first of many meetings of Eton's Caledonian Society. Wycombe Abbey came to Eton for the first practice of the year, with some of those present experienced reelers, although most complete beginners and excited for what the dances would hold.

The traditional starting dance, the Dashing White Sergeant, was picked up and understood pretty quickly, although some confusion ensued with the introduction of three further dances. Demonstrations from the keepers proved helpful, leading to great improvement, although further practices will be required before the dances look seamless!

Overall it was a great start to the reeling half, enjoyed by all, and created much enthusiasm for the dances to come.
