The two fundraising campaigns mounted by Eton Action in recent months raised £8,913 for a variety of charities from the collection of redundant mobile phones and Mufti Day raised £3,072 for the Disasters Emergency Committee Haiti Appeal. As ever, individual Houses have run their own causes. Mr Nick Sellers’s for example, have raised some £7,000 for Tujatane, the Tongabezi Trust school in Zambia, by swimming, running and cycling the distance between Eton and Tujatane (5,025 miles). Among a number of group and individual efforts, the Incognitos close harmony group raised a remarkable £55,000 for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust and HemiHelp from the proceeds of a variety of concerts they gave in other schools and at the Cadogan Hall. George Kirkpatrick (JMN) also raised the considerable sum of £51,916 for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation on the back of his participation in the London Marathon. The retiring collection after the Tattoo raised £2,850 for Help for Heroes. In addition to raising sums of money, boys continue to help as volunteers in charity shops.
