Professor Simon Goldhill from King's College London came to talk to the Classical Society about 'Sophocles and the Buried Life of Words'. In his talk, Professor Goldhill subjected two passages from Sophocles's Oedipus Tyrannus and Philoctetes to close linguistic analysis, demonstrating how a single seemingly banal word can in fact change the reading of an entire text. Professor Goldhill's talk was interactive and entertaining and engaged the audience with its accessible style.
