On Monday this week, the African Society hosted Olamide Dada to speak on ‘Defining Your Own Path’.

She gave us an insight into her journey to becoming a medical student and how she founded the non-profit organisation Melanin Medics. As the director of the organisation, she aims to tackle the lack of diversity in the medical field and provide opportunities for Afro-Caribbean students to get involved in medicine. During her time as a student at Cardiff University, she was voted head of the Afro-Caribbean Society and has since been awarded a scholarship at the Healthcare Leadership Academy.

The talk she gave inspired the boys and helped us to consider defining our own paths.
