Last night, 44 staff from Holyport and Eton met at Queen's Eyot to celebrate the last year of partnership working.
As Head Master of Eton, Simon Henderson, and Acting Head Master of Holyport, Ben McCarey, (pictured below) noted, it has been a year of great success for the partnership, with ever closer links being formed. Among the highlights have been the launch of the joint Combined Cadet Force, with girls joining Eton's CCF for the first time; widespread attendance by Holyport at Eton societies; combined entries to competitions, including a joint entry to a regional Maths competition which saw the combined team running out winners; two social events for students in Year 12 and Year 9; and the winning of the Cruso Cup for the best 'harmony choir' by the Holyport girls' chamber choir. In addition, the academic and pastoral collaboration between staff and departments has continued to the benefit of pupils and staff at both schools.
Plans were hatched and contacts made, with a particular focus this year on supporting Holyport's first university cohort as they make their UCAS applications, including a number to Oxford and Cambridge.
