Eton College Chapel Choir was delighted to feature in the Music & Monarchy series, presented by David Starkey and broadcast on BBC2 over the summer.
The filming actually took place in December 2012 and involved the Eton Choirbook making a rare appearance in College Chapel, where it would originally have been used. A chamber consort drawn from the choir performed one of the most famous works from the Choirbook, Lambe’s Nesciens Mater, before trebles from the choir joined forces with professional choir, Alamire, to perform music written for the Chapel Royal.
Some of the performances can be seen in this clip. It was a great privilege and pleasure to work with David Starkey, David Skinner (Fellow and Director of Music, Sidney Sussex College), Alamire and Oxford Film & Television.
