Dr Oliver Firth, of the London Diving Chamber, spoke to a joint meeting of the Eton College Medical and Scuba Societies on Monday 24th June about the physiology of diving and the ways in which doctors treat decompression sickness (DCS, or the bends). He explained the physics of diving and the effects of decompression before explaining clearly the signs and symptoms of DCS, its causes, predisposing factors and treatment.
