On the evening of Wednesday 19 January, over 120 students from Year 12 and 13 took part in the Eton and Holyport Social Quiz night, an annual event held at each college on alternate years. This year’s venue was the Whiteley Hall, Eton College.

The quiz was hosted by Lesley-Anne Brewis from QuizQuizQuiz, who stretched and entertained all the teams throughout the evening. Each team was a mix of Eton and Holyport students. Through all the rounds, the teams worked well together and as Mr Hardee, the teacher in charge of the relationship with Eton College at Holyport commented, “There’s nothing better than getting a group of teenagers together over nice food and a quiz to help promote social interaction and sharing of thoughts and ideas.” The winning team achieved 90%, not only beating their fellow students but also the team of teachers, who came in third!

A buffet dinner was served at half time in the Bekynton Marquee, where everyone could mix and relax. Through the frequency of partnership activity between Eton and Holyport, many students have existing friendships. The annual quiz is a celebration of the partnership, friendships and new connections being made between the colleges every year.

I had a great time at the quiz. I met some lovely new people and we all got stuck in as a group.

Theo, Year 13

The quiz was really good fun, with the perfect mix of relatively easy and more tricky questions. It was great to work as a team, with people who had lots of different interests and areas of knowledge.
