Afternoon Tea at The Timbralls

On Monday 27th February 2012, 30 members and helpers of the Datchet Monday Club attended an afternoon of entertainment and tea at The Timbralls, which was very much enjoyed by all our guests and the helpers. This was the first event organized by Eton College Staff and community to help local charities and over 35 people were involved (with many more offers of help).

All help was much appreciated – assisting the guests into The Timbralls, providing food for the tea, helping serve and clear up and organizing boys to provide musical entertainment and card tricks. A master’s wife, Kate Jackson, played the harp during tea and gave the guests an interesting synopsis on this romantic instrument. With a sumptuous spread of afternoon tea, friendly company and musical accompaniment, no wonder the guests were in no hurry to leave! As they left they were all given an OE report and calendar as a memento of their afternoon and more cake to take home. This was an excellent example of community spirit within Eton College and we hope that future events will give other members of staff and the community an opportunity to be involved in a worthwhile cause.
