Every Thursday evening, Eton’s Model United Nations (MUN) meet in CIRL to discuss, debate and critique various UN resolutions and garner a better understanding of its role in today’s society. This week, the meeting opened with a resolution from the delegate of Saudi Arabia about how to approach the increasingly difficult economic situation in Syria. This was then followed by various responses which led to further debate regarding the issues in the country. To finish off the session, each delegate gave a one minute speech where boys complimented and constructively criticised each other’s public skills. Overall, it was a productive and enjoyable evening and it’s clear that the boys are working hard to improve for when later this half Eton will host its own Model United Nations. Many thanks to the secretaries of MUN (Tadzieu Sikorski and Tony Ford) for leading such a fantastic and useful session.
