Eton College has sent a message of congratulations to former pupil Eddie Redmayne, on winning the best actor category in the Academy Awards.
Eddie won the Oscar for his portrayal of the theoretical physicist and author Stephen Hawking, in the film The Theory of Everything.
“We would like to congratulate Eddie Redmayne on winning the Academy Award for best actor,” said Eton College’s Head Master, Tony Little. “Eddie’s natural talent was evident during his time with us and since then he has worked incredibly hard to hone his skills.
“We are absolutely delighted for him, particularly as he was among a strong shortlist of very accomplished fellow actors.”
Eddie had previously won the BAFTA and Golden Globe awards for best actor in a film for his portrayal of Professor Hawking.
