The Hispanic Society welcomed Señor Ricardo Laiseca, who is head of global markets at BBVA, to give a talk about the world of banking after the crisis of 2008. Speaking in Spanish, Señor Laiseca proposed to us a financial world brimming with youth and new scientific theories but one plagued by regulation. Furthermore, he stressed the need to regain confidence in the banking sector after the crash. A solution to this would be found in more responsible trading, of course, but the speaker also suggested it was our responsibility, as the next generation to rebuild sensibly to regain this lost trust.
