On Tuesday last week, the Empty Space theatre was treated to the final of the second annual House Duologue Competition. We saw outstanding performances in both the Junior and Senior categories, as well as great directorial decisions and advanced choices of text.

All of the houses fought their way through the preliminary rounds, and each piece was chosen, edited, cast, and directed entirely by the pupils in the house.

The evening was entertaining from start to finish as the audience were treated to a wide variety of theatre. Memorable performances from the night were Jasper B (Junior) and Will H (Senior), Jasper’s sensitive portrayal of his character Lenny from Of Mice and Men was touching and heart-breaking. The evening then saw an impeccable performance from Will as Robert Pattinson, performing an extract from The Lighthouse. The fire he brought to the character, whilst still allowing the audience to connect and sympathise with him, made for a wonderful piece of theatre. Both were commended for their individual acting performances of the evening.

Every single house delivered polished and exciting performances aided by the incredible tech team, giving Mrs Farley, the adjudicator, a difficult decision to make.

Supported by her assistant adjudicator Ms Cox, she gave a summary of her thoughts about each piece, then announced the winners. Many congratulations all the houses that took part both in preliminary rounds and the final, and a special thanks to Mrs Gibbons for organizing such a wonderful night of theatre.
