Keynes Society Lord Sassoon, the Commercial Secretary to the Treasury

A large group of Etonians, as well as students from five local schools, attended the Keynes Society’s last meeting of the half. Lord Sassoon, the Commercial Secretary to the Treasury, spoke on the dual economic aims of the current government: dealing with the deficit and building for growth. As well as these core macroeconomic objectives, Lord Sassoon talked about the Eurozone debt crisis, the Autumn Statement, the UK’s education system, infrastructure, credit rating and cheap borrowing costs. Furthermore, it was nice to welcome back a former secretary of the Keynes Society. The meeting rounded off a successful half for the society, which had previously been addressed by Mark Wall, Andrew Sentance and Jeff Randall.
