Keynes Society Mark Wall (Deutsche Bank)
Mark Wall, Deutsche Bank’s Chief Euro Area Economist, was the guest speaker for the Keynes Society’s first meeting of the year. He gave an insightful account of his perspectives on the European sovereign debt crisis. As the most pressing issue in the global economy right now, his talk proved to be topical and relevant. He stressed the need for the markets to realise that Italy and Spain are not insolvent, but illiquid. He also warned that the two key risks in the Euro crisis are low growth rates and voter hostility in stronger European countries. Mr Wall provided an enlightening and refreshing talk which was well attended by boys and by students from local schools.
