Medical Society Second Opinion – Is a medical career for you?

The medical society was proud to host a panel of speakers speaking from their experience on being a medical student or junior doctor. Recently qualified, Dr Liz Lewis spoke briefly on the trials of finding posts in your first few years and the sharp changes from being a clinical medical student to being a FY1. James Pittaway OE gave a very enticing talk on the attractions of London medicine and left us with a glowing recommendation for St Barts as a prospective medical school. Isobel Ramsey rounded the panel off with stories of her recently finished elective in Tasmania, which by the sounds of it meant running the ward rounds between beach trips. It made a very fitting end to the year’s medical society meetings to try and inspire C blockers to apply next year.
