Pupils from Wycombe Abbey joined History Society members for a University Challenge-style quiz.
Etonians and the girls from Wycombe were mixed into four teams and answered questions on a wide range of periods and themes, from Chinese dynastic history to the middle names of US Presidents.
In the final round, entitled “moustaches in history” contestants had to identify historical figures by their moustaches only and Team Tudor seized victory.
The questions were prepared by history master Sophie Frew and Alexis Reilly (AJC), who also acted as quiz master.
