On Friday 21 September a group of B Block (Upper Sixth) Music Scholars gave a recital at St John’s Smith Square. The concert was organised in recognition of the extraordinary talent of this cohort of boys, with boys being awarded an opportunity to perform in the concert through an audition process led by leading Music College professors. The 300-strong audience were treated to a wide ranging feast of music including Debussy’s Jardins sous la pluie from Estampes, and the fiendishly difficult cello piece Elfentanz Op.39 by David Popper. The audience comprised parents and friends of the boys, Eton staff, representatives from the London Music Colleges, aspiring Music Scholars from prep and primary schools and members of the general public.
