Parry Society Murray Perahia

This was a phenomenally exciting evening for all with internationally renowned concert pianist Murray Perahia. Rather than giving a formal talk, Mr Perahia responded to questions from the eager beavers amongst a particularly enthusiastic audience, sharing illuminating intellectual insights into the music, as well as his personal thoughts on performing. We were treated to his views on Schenkerian analysis, to his experience with other giants of the musical world – Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau, Radu Lupu, and Vladimir Horowitz, to name but a few – but for many of us, perhaps the highlight of the evening was the intimacy of hearing him play. I could enthuse for days on end, but suffice it to say that this was an occasion that none shall forget.
