On 4th March, the Television and Literary Societies joined forces with the Jane Shore Society to present Jonathan Smith and Jeremy Cowdrey. Mr Smith spoke about his novel, Summer in February, and how it was adapted for the big screen. The pair informed the audience of how the project had started as the brainchild of Jeremy Cowdrey (an ex-pupil of Mr Smith’s) wife, and took off from there. Mr Smith spoke of how his old friend Dan Stevens had impressed him so much in school productions, and their delight when he got on board, as well as Dominic Cooper, which certainly gave the film a star-studded cast. Mr Smith and Mr Cowdrey talked about the difficulties of getting a film made, not least financing the project, but the exciting outcome when it finally made it into cinemas, and their plans for the future, which might involve another film adaptation.
