Last month, three boys in Year 12, accompanied by Eton’s Social Impact Mentor Ms Mehta, attended the Thames Valley Learning Partnership (TVLP) World Book Day author event with Muhammad Khan at Beechwood School in Slough.

Mr Khan spoke about his passion for writing, as well as his transition from teaching Maths to becoming an author. He explained that his past experiences with teenagers in the classroom have helped to develop realistic and relatable teenage characters in his novels. Mr Khan’s recently published novels include I Am Thunder (2018), Kick the Moon (2019) and Split (2020).

As a common theme in his novels, Mr Khan explored what it is like to grow up as a Muslim in this day and age, and some of the struggles Muslim teenagers in the UK commonly face.

We would like to thank Beechwood School for hosting this insightful event and look forward to more events of the same nature held between TVLP schools in the future.
