With most of the debating squad held back in Eton due to adverse weather conditions, a small yet determined detachment made it through the snow and ice to participate in the finals day of the Cambridge Union International Schools Competition, a tournament that featured over 600 pairs competing worldwide.

Coen Armstrong KS and Greg Weaving KS emerged as the top pair in the team rankings. Coen was rated top individual speaker. (Greg won this honour last year.)

Cary Godsal (JMG) competed in a hybrid pair with Amber Warner-Warr of RGS Worcester. Amazingly for a pair that had just met, they finished ranked ninth, missing out on a semi-final spot by just a few speaker points.

Coen and Greg went through to the semi-finals along with the other top eight teams (debating a motion on the politics of mass conversion in early modern Christendom) and then progressed to the grand final, finishing as runners-up in a debate on legalising euthanasia for all.
