Natural History Museum – Family Learning Event

On Sunday 19th February, Eton College Natural History Museum ran another Family Learning Event (FLE) in collaboration with the Clewer Cluster of Schools and the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead. Over eighty adults and children took part in activities on the theme of dinosaurs. Following an interactive lecture on Dinosaurs by palaeontologist Mike Howgate, families followed a dinosaur trail around the museum, enjoyed a creative activity building a model dinosaur, and watched a puppet display featuring the great fossil collector Mary Anning. For many, handling some fossilised dinosaur excrement (a coprolite) was a highlight! Despite this, the feedback on the day was very positive and the Curator is looking ahead to the next FLE which will be a Nocturnal Event in May. The Museum is also a partner institution in National Insect Week and at the end of June an FLE will focus on insects! As always, the activities of the museum can be followed on Twitter (https://twitter.com/#!/Eton_NHM) and on Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/ECNHM).
